 Flights and Airport Transportation

IMG_4167Flights and the Portland International Airport:

Portland International Airport, or PDX, has direct connections to most major airport hubs throughout the United States, plus non-stop international flights to Canada, Japan, and the Netherlands. It is a hub for United Express affiliate SkyWest Airlines for flights to smaller cities in Oregon and California. The airport is a major hub for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.

Transportation to and From the Airport:

The MAX Train: It’s easy to get from the Airport to downtown Portland. Just take the train at the baggage level, known as the MAX (Red Line). This options costs about $2.50 for the entire day, and can help you get to all major areas of the city.

Car Rentals: If you would like to rent a car there are several rental companies available from the airport. To get to the downtown area you will take Interstate 205 towards Portland, Interstate 84 West again towards Portland, take I-5 South or Take I-5 North to I-405, and follow signs for downtown. I’m sure a map from the rental company or a smart phone will help guide your way as well.

Taxi & Shuttles: A taxi cab into the city from the airport costs about $35 one way and takes from 20 to 35 minutes depending on traffic. There is a taxi stand at the airport, but you can also pre-arrange a shuttle for less than a cab. The transportation company we recommend you take to and from the airport, and anywhere else you need to go is Oregon Shuttle Airport. Call or text them at 503.701.6611, and get more info at www.oregonshuttleairport.com. Their rates are better than taxi for most trips, drivers are reliable, and they will be there waiting  just for you in a nice clean SUV or town car.
