You’re Invited to Join us Thursday Night!

Our big day is right around the corner and we are so excited for all of you to be with us.

Since there are so many of you coming to Portland from out-of-state, we thought we would get the out-of-towners and the locals together to play on Portland’s premier glow-in-the-dark mini golf greens http://www.glowinggreens.com/. It is walking distance from the Marriott and in the heart of downtown. Glowing Greens – 509 Sw Taylor St., Portland, Oregon 97204 (SW 5th & Taylor).

We will be there from 7 pm to about 8:30 pm Thursday, June 11th, to play a couple of rounds of 18 hole mini golf and we’d like to have you there to play with us! There is no food there, so you should eat before you come. The center will be open to all public, but I’m sure we will have a great time 😉
We completely understandable if you can’t make it, but I would like to let the staff at Glowing Greens know about how many will be coming so please reply and let me know you’re coming even if you’re not sure.
After mini golf has been played, we’re going to have a drink at The Rose Bar & Lounge – 111 SW Ash St, Portland, OR 97204 (SW 1st & Ash). Unfortunately it’s not kid friendly, but it is where Dan and I first met 😉
Can’t wait!

Guess Who’s Coming to the Wedding!

TheWaterfrontBowlIt’s only about a month away! Here are a few things you should know…

Most of you have sent back your RSVPs, called us, Facebooked us, or sent carrier pigeons to tell us one way or another. Thank you for letting us know, and thank you for all the cute messages on the RSVPs. We are just a few days away from our RSVP deadline (May 15th) and we’re still wondering about a few of you, not naming names. Please let us know if you plan on coming but haven’t sent the RSVP to us yet. We need to make sure to have enough seats, transportation, and food for all of you.

A few fun things you should know:

Almost the entire wedding, ceremony and reception are in the grass. In fact, we will be sharing the ceremony location (Waterfront Park) with the local goose population. We recommend considering this when choosing your footwear for the day.

• Weather could be damp. Please bring an umbrella. We know if you bring them it won’t rain. Plus, we want the locals to know who the out-of-towners are. 😉 – In case you’re curious about the weather on our day, check this out.

• We’re planning a welcome party for guests who will be in Portland on Thursday night, the 11th of June. It’s all ages from 7-9 pm and adults only from 9 pm on. We will fill you in on the details soon.

Transportation will be provided from Silverton to the ceremony location in the morning, from the ceremony location to the Silverton reception site, and back to Portland at the end of the night if needed. We do not have adequate parking in Silverton for you all, so please get in touch with us if you need to arrange parking at the reception or if you would like to take our shuttle in the morning from Silverton to Portland before the Ceremony. See the transportation scheduled and options here.

• For those of you who received a Sweet Treats request in your invitations, details are coming soon!

• For those who are traveling here for the wedding, we will be sharing a fun list of what to do and see in Portland while you’re here, but you can get started with my travel blog for now: www.traveleathike.com. This link will bring you to the Portland search on my blog.

We are so excited about our day and can’t wait to see you all!

Cheers,

Laura & Daniel

Only 3.5 months to go, let’s talk flights, hotels, and day-of logistics

IMG_4167We can’t believe time has been flying by so quickly. Now that it is getting close, we suggest you begin looking at your plans for June 13th and the surrounding days for those traveling. If you’re in the wedding party or involved in the logistic of our day, we will have a rehearsal on Friday evening, June 12th. There will also be details coming soon for those of you who will be in the city on Thursday night for a meet-and-greet cocktail gathering.

For those of you who live in town or are driving to the ceremony, you might be curious about the parking and transportation details for the wedding day. Be sure to check them out here, on our Travel and Logistics page. More details for you will be posted here soon.

If you’re coming from out-of-town, this is the best time to book flights, and reserve your hotel while we still have rooms in our group block available for all nights. The block pricing is available from June 6th to June 14th or any combination of days within those.

Flights booked from now till the end of March will be the best prices you will find, we guarantee it! Once we hit the two-month mark they will get pretty expensive, at least for the cross-country ones. I found non-stop flights from NYC or Boston for $369 RT just now via Expedia, and I know a few of you could fly from those cities. Anyway, you get the idea.

As for booking your hotel, the official wedding hotel is at the Marriott Waterfront, click here: Use Room Block LuchtBurke Wedding. Remember, you will not need to pay anything up front to reserve your room and can cancel up to 3 days before check-in. To book your stay please be sure to book by following the link above or calling this group phone number  1-877-901-6632. You can also email Jennifer.Allen@marriott.com. She is our direct line to all of the arrangements and super helpful. For more details on the hotel visit our Travel & Logistics page and scroll down to the Hotel section.

Please let us know if we can help you with anything.

Love always,

Laura & Dan
